Get to Know the Guide
What’s in the Paragraphs to Pages Guide?
The “Paragraph to Pages” guide is an eighteen-week program. This guide is for students ready to read short paragraphs. For students that have used our “Syllables to Sentences” program the “Paragraphs to Pages” guide continues to prepare students for short chapter books in the following year.
This guide pulls together several great resources. What is so great is that the program is simple to use. The student will be working out of three workbooks, flashcards, and an activity pack. This guide schedules: reading, reading comprehension, handwriting, spelling, phonics, sight word practice, spelling activities and games, phonics activities and games, and simple vocabulary. Teaching notes and instructions on how-to-use are included in this guide along with answer keys for the workbooks included in this package. Alternate game ideas using the “Hands-On” Phonics Pack are also added to this guide along with game boards for more fun. Using the hands-on games and flashcards along with the highly interactive write-in readers your student will quickly progress in their ability to read and comprehend what they are reading through this fun program.
Unique Resources
Students will love our write-in readers! This is the first of our early reading programs to schedule our write-in readers. Students will use this resource to progress in their reading while using our coordinating phonics worksheets. These write-in readers also have pages on phonics, spelling, vocabulary, sight words, and fun reading comprehension activities. The reading passages follow the story of two furry critters Mac and Nip and their adventures on Pine Nut Street. These phonetically focused stories engage student and enable them to decode more words and expand their vocabulary. Further information on these great readers, “Play on Pine Nut Street” Write-In Reader, & "Surprise Along the Way" Write-In Reader, & “Tricks in the Thicket” Write-In Reader, can be seen on their separate pages.
Student Workbooks
3 Write-In Readers:
“Play on Pine Nut Street,” is the first student book scheduled in our language arts program, “Paragraphs to Pages.” Second comes "Surprise Along the Lane" and thirdly, "Tricks in the Thicket". These wonderful resources includes stories to read, spelling practice, phonics pages, simple vocabulary, sight words, handwriting, and reading comprehension. This student book has lots of interactive worksheets and reading.
These write-in readers are unique in that the worksheet pages are linked to the adventures the students are reading from the write-in reader. This creates a unity among the learning and keeps the story they read fresh in their mind. Children are creating habits in their reading at this young age and this lays the ground work for awareness while reading. That is why the reading comprehension activities are so crucial. Later on students are expected to tell-back, narrate, about what they’ve learned and gather from a large paragraph the goal of that paragraph – what is trying to be said. These resources, along with our other early language arts program, and the student books within build and increase in difficulty of this helping kids to master their reading and other skills.
These student books continues the story line begun in “Syllables to Sentences” language arts program. The adventures of the squirrels, Mac and Nip, continue. They find more trouble, danger, and a new enemy! They also meet Mac’s brother and a surprise arrives to the family on Pine Nut Street. Your student will enjoy reading these stories and may even ask to read ahead, as they are left wondering what will happen next!
